Rebecca Miller, Instructional Technologist with Academic Technology for the FAS, has been awarded the inaugural Katie Vale Memorial Scholarship by the NorthEast Regional Computing Program (NERCOMP).

NERCOMP is a New England-based organization that cultivates communities of practice around information and technology, promotes strategic partnerships, and advances innovation and leadership in educational institutions across the Northeastern United States.

Beginning in 2018, the Katie Vale Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a woman attending the NERCOMP Annual Conference who demonstrates a passion for the role of technology in higher education and embodies the characteristics of an emerging leader. The scholarship memorializes Katie, who had a great passion for the role of technology and its ability to transform learning and the essential functions of the institution. It honors her commitment to mentorship and professional development of women in the technology-related fields of academics, information technology, and libraries.

Katie Vale, who tragically passed away in late 2016, led the FAS Academic Technology Group here at Harvard from 2006 to 2014. It seems fitting that the inaugural scholarship in her memory has been awarded to a member of the team she led for so long, and Rebecca Miller's contributions to the team, to HUIT and the FAS, and to Harvard make her very deserving of the honor.
