#  Registration Reminders 

 



**Make sure your Canvas site is ready for the upcoming term!**



 

##  Publish your Canvas site

Is your Canvas course website published? If your site is not published, students will be unable to view it as they are deciding on their classes this semester. Even if your site is not completely ready, we recommend that you publish it so that students can view it.

You can continue to work on your site after it is published. Alternatively, after registration is complete, you can unpublish your site and continue working on it until a time closer to the start of term.



 

##  Set your course's AI Policy 

 All FAS Canvas sites include a tool called the **AI Policy Wizard**, which makes it easy to publish a generative AI policy for your course. More information can be found on the Office for Undergraduate Education's [**AI Guidance &amp; FAQs** page](https://oue.fas.harvard.edu/ai-guidance).

 The AI Policy Wizard is set to automatically display in each Canvas site's navigation menu. If it is not appearing on your Canvas site, you can re-add it from the **Settings** menu by clicking the **Navigation** tab. Scroll to the bottom of the page until you see a menu item called **AI Policy**. Click and drag it into the top (visible) section of the menu, then scroll back down and click **Save**. The Policy Wizard will now be visible in your Canvas site's navigation menu.



 

##  Canvas Syllabus Template 

 To help students make informed course choices, all Canvas sites have been pre-populated with a standard course information template. **If this content was erased or overwritten during site setup, you can use the text below to replace it.**

 To do this, copy the text below (beginning with "Course Goals"), then navigate to your Canvas site, click the EDIT button, and paste the content at a location of your choice. You can then input your responses by over-writing the field description below each bolded heading.

###  **Course goals:**  

 Describe the specific knowledge, skills and abilities that students will learn or develop in your course.

###  **Course format:**  

 In what format is the course conducted (ex: lecture and required discussion section). How is class time spent?

###  **Typical enrollees:**  

 Who is this course primarily designed for?

###  **When is course typically offered?**  

 fall; spring; both semesters; occasionally; one time only

###  **What can students expect from you as an instructor?**  

 What is your teaching style?

###  **Assignments and grading:**  

 Describe principal assignments and assessments. Provide a provisional percentage-based breakdown of how each requirement will factor into the overall grade. Indicate the end-of-term assessment.

###  **Sample reading list:**

###  **Enrollment cap, selection process, notification:**  

 (Optional--for limited enrollment courses) What is your selection process? Will certain students be prioritized or (e.g., concentrators; upper-level students; first-years only)? How will students be notified of their admission? If there is a website that describes your controlled enrollment application and selection process, please provide the link.

###  **Past syllabus:**

###  **AI policy:**  

 Click the **AI Policy** link in the navigation menu at left and follow the instructions to select your course's AI policy. Once complete, students will be able to view your finalized policy by clicking the same navigation item..

###  **Course policies:**  

 Your Canvas site has been pre-populated with a page called **[Course Policies](https://canvas.harvard.edu/courses/120657/pages/course-policies)** that contains select policy information from the Harvard College *Student Handbook*. You can edit that text and/or add your own policy information to it, including **Absence** and **Late Work** policies. *Once complete, [link to your policy page](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Basics-Guide/How-do-I-create-hyperlinks-to-user-group-or-course-files-in-the/ta-p/618223) here in the syllabus so that students can quickly access your policy information for your course*.
