#  Omeka as a Service

Academic Technology for FAS offers [Omeka Classic](http://omeka.org) as a service for use in Harvard College and GSAS courses.

Omeka is an open-source platform that allows you to create and share rich visual collections online, and to craft complex narratives from them. To see a sampling of Omeka sites from around the web, visit the official Omeka showcase page at [omeka.org/showcase](https://omeka.org/showcase/) and the Neatline showcase at [neatline.org/demos](http://neatline.org/demos/).

Omeka is currently being used in courses offered by the departments of Anthropology, History, Romance Languages and Literatures, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Women and Gender Studies, as well as in several General Education courses, where it serves as the engine for online exhibits, object biographies, student essays, and geospatial assignments.

Omeka utilizes a common [metadata standard](http://dublincore.org/), and can be extended to accommodate map-based storytelling with [Neatline](http://neatline.org/), [International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF)](http://iiif.harvard.edu/) integration, and other approaches.

**To request an Omeka instance for your FAS course, fill out** [**this Google form**](https://goo.gl/forms/TE3TZEywMizVYKMd2)**.** Once your Omeka site has been created, Academic Technology for FAS will be available to help you set it up and integrate it into your course, and provide further support as needed.
