# Academic Computing Services for FAS Courses **To request access to one of these services for your 2025-26 course, please fill out the** [**FAS Academic Compute Request Form**](https://harvard.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3xcYyCb1RDn1QXA) ***Spring 2026 requests are due by Friday, January 16, 2026.*** **Provisioning of services for the Fall 2025 term will begin after this due date.** The following academic computing services are currently available to FAS courses: Sort***Application******Use Case*****Python/Jupyter Notebooks** **Jupyter Notebooks** can be configured in **HUIT Open OnDemand**. Jupyter environments can be configured to run Python code, including installing additional Python modules for use in courses. Jupyter environments can also be configured to be used for running R code. **RStudio** Courses using RStudio can request access to the vendor-provided service from [**Posit**](https://posit.cloud/learn/guide) (formerly RStudio Cloud). RStudio is also available in **HUIT Open OnDemand** for courses that also have high-performance compute needs. **HPC Resources via Open OnDemand** Access to high-performance compute resources can be provided through **HUIT Open OnDemand**. This platform uses slurm for compute job management, and can be used to provide access to Linux-based command line and remote desktop applications. Most users of HUIT Open OnDemand use it for one or more of the following: - Submitting batch compute jobs to the Slurm scheduler directly with `sbatch`, `srun`, `salloc` and other Slurm commands - Interactive apps: Jupyter Lab, RStudio, and Code Server / VS Code - Accessing specialized resources through one of the methods above Please contact FAS Academic Technology at for more information. ## Compute Resource Trainings by Other Groups The following is a list of other groups at Harvard that offer training in high performance computing or other areas relevant to computation in an academic context.
