MATLAB® is a high-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization, and programming. You can analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models and applications using MATLAB. 

The FAS site license agreement with MATLAB provides access to all faculty, staff, and students at no additional charge.

Getting Started

Option 1: Download and Install MATLAB

For those looking to download and install the application on a personal device, go to the FAS Software Downloads page and follow the instructions on creating an account and downloading and installing

  • NOTE: Annual re-activation is required. Please visit the FAS Software Downloads page for instructions on how to renew an expired license.

Option 2: Using MATLAB Online

For those interested in using MATLAB Online, please follow the steps below:

  • Create a MATLAB account using your Harvard email address (this will associate your email address with the Harvard MATLAB license).
  • Once created, authenticate with your HarvardKey credentials to access MATLAB Online.
  • Start Using MatLab.
